Hi there, I’m Hamlin. Once upon a time I had a home. The folks at Kitten Rescue say that’s obvious because I am SUPER friendly and confident and I LOVE people. But they also say they can tell I have been roughing it on the streets for a long time based on my condition when I arrived. I can’t tell time so I don’t know how long I was homeless, but at some point I got an ear infection that went untreated for so long that I developed a permanent “cauliflower” ear. They’ve told me not to worry about it though, because now I’ve received treatment, the infection is gone, my ear doesn’t hurt anymore, I can hear just fine, and according to everyone here, my “funny” ear just adds to my charming good looks (not to brag or anything, but that’s what they tell me). The vet estimates that I am about five years old. I don’t know about that because, again, I can’t tell time, but they say it means I should have a good 10-15 years of living left to go, and that sounds like a nice, long time to me so I’m happy with it. I would absolutely love to spend the rest of my life in a nice home, warm home with my very own human. Humans are just my favorite thing ever. I can sit in their laps or rub on them and purr all day long if they let me. I have missed doing that a lot so I am making up for lost time now. Oh, I am also making up for being hungry. They tell me I am a big, beautiful boy but I am too skinny, so they are giving me lots of food and it is so delicious. I don’t ever want to be hungry again. I love to have yummy in my tummy.
In the interest of full disclosure, I have to tell you a few things I’m not so proud of, but please don’t let them dissuade you from adopting me. You see, to survive on the streets on my own for as long as I did, I had to become a bit of a tough guy. So now I kind of have an attitude with other animals, dogs and cats alike. Ok, ok, I pick fights with them, I admit it. But I really can’t help it. Because of that, Kitten Rescue is recommending that I be the only animal in my new home, which is just fine with me because why would I want to share my human with anyone? Also, probably in the course of a fight I had in the past, I got this thing called FIV virus. But they tell me not to worry about that because I can live a perfectly normal life with it. In fact, my foster mom told me she had another cat with FIV once and he turned out to be by far the healthiest of all her other animals, he never got sick like they all did, and he outlived all of them. Yeah!
So, I may not be perfect, but I am perfectly lovable. If you pick me to adopt, I promise you won’t regret it. Won’t you please come meet me? I think you’ll find I’m pretty mush irresistible (still not bragging, just saying). Hope to see you soon.

Love,
Hamlin
Hamlin has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). FIV is not a big deal; given proper care and attention, an FIV+ cat will live the same lifespan as an FIV negative cat. The disease is extremely hard to transmit from cat to cat, requiring direct blood contact (typically from a deep puncture wound). It is not transmissable to humans. Click here for a basic FAQ about FIV. If you'd like to read a much more detailed and comprehensive FAQ about FIV, we recommend this site.

If you are unable to send an email to the foster parent through the link included above, please contact us and let us know what kitty you're interested in. You may also fill out our adoption questionnaire to speed up the screening process. Be sure to specify the cat you're interested in at the end of the questionnaire!
