Max was found as a stray around midnight on 7/18/16 off a freeway in Los Angeles. He was rushed to the vet on the m orning of 7/19th to get examined and begin treatment for his injuries immediately. We initially thought he was ran over my multiple cars due to the injuries all over his body, but the vet thinks he may have been severely neglected or tortured by someone and/or has been on the streets for quite some time due to his condition.
Max had severe pneumonia which made it very difficult for him to breathe. He is still extremely underweight and the x-rays showed his system was full of gravel, rocks and trash. We don't know how long he's been starving. He had open sores all over his body and he smelled like infection. Those sores are thankfully healing much better than anticipated but a couple of the severe ones will take some time to fully heal. Max also has mild hip dysplasia on his right hip but the vet believes it won't hinder him whatsoever once he gains weight and muscle mass. He's already doing a light jog on his walks with the biggest smile on his face :-))
He was such a sad boy with a broken soul then but now he's a social butterfly that greets everyone with a smile that is so contagious that all you do is smile from ear to ear and makes your heart happy. It is so apparent how grateful he is to all his guardian angels keeping him safe and caring for him. He's still in boarding at the vet while we search for the perfect foster or forever home.
