Hayden is a young boy who found himself in dire straits when his owner's relative turned him into the local shelter for basically growing up. Unfortunately, like many dogs gifted to families not prepared for the responsibility of dog ownership, or not matched with the family, Hayden was described as too big and active for his previous owner. He was not given proper training as a puppy and would jump on his person to greet.
Hayden was also very nervous in the shelter and, likely generally unsure and lacking confidence due to no guidance in his former home. He is now in a foster home where he is learning basic obedience and manners and crate-training.
Like all pups of similar breed, Hayden has a high grooming requirement. He will need to be brushed out often and groomed every 6-8 weeks. We ask that you factor the cost of grooming into your pet care budget.
In light of his past, we are seeking a home with Aussie or other herding dog/Shepherd dog experience with no children or older children (teen).
Hayden is current on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. He is current on heartworm preventative and flea preventative.
If you are interested in Hayden, please fill out a Dog Adoption Application
Our adoptions include a foster period of 4-6 weeks so that you can be sure that this pet is a good fit without any pressure, and we are available to answer any behavior or training questions during that time (and beyond, if you wish).
** Local adoptions preferred (within Greater New Orleans area and surrounding parishes). We do not ship animals, as a part of our adoption process is for the potential adopter(s) to meet the dog to assess if he/she is a match for the family.
