We adopted Hazel from Missaukee Humane Society almost a year ago. At that time, we had four other cats. After a few months in our home, my daughter's allergies started flaring up worse than normal. After taking her to an allergy specialist, and discovering she was severely allergic to cats, we were encouraged to get rid of all the cats in the house. We found homes for two of them, and my daughter got additional allergy pills to help with the problem. At her six month check-up, it appeared as if the pills were no longer helping, and we were once again told to get rid of our animals. Hazel is a very sweet cat who loves to be in your lap whenever possible. She loves attention and enjoys getting brushed. Due to a hearing issue, if she's not completely aware that you're about to pet or touch her, she will bite. I think this is simply a defense mechanism for the deafness. She never bites under normal circumstances. She gets along with other cats, but does show some bullying occasionally, so might do best as the only cat in the house. She loves dogs, though, Hazel is an indoor cat. She will sometimes go out on the front porch, but she won't wonder far, and usually wants back in within a few minutes. I feel like Hazel would do the best with an older couple of person who no longer has young children in the house. Please feel free to call me if you have any other questions. Brandy (231) 420-0910.
