Location: Perkasie, PA
Nicknames: Hazel Baby
Good with other dogs?: Yes.
Hazel is pretty good at meeting dogs. She does tend to be a little bossy when she wants to be. But nothing aggressive about her.
Good with cats? perfect!
Activity Preference: Low maintenance overall but needs quality outside time., Will go with the flow, Champion couch potato
Hazel's favorite things: Hazel really likes a soft spot to sleep. This is one of her main concerns throughout the day! Her other concern is her people. She likes getting and giving attention. Oh and don't forget the treats!!! Hazel sits pretty for those!
Hazel is good at: meeting people, meeting dogs, behaving in the house, going for car rides, cuddling, following commands
Ideal home: another dog, quiet environment, a fenced yard
Training Needs: leash training
Health issues: Hazel was extremely emaciated when she came into the rescue. She has slowly but surely put weight on. It's been slow because her teeth were in very bad shape. At the end of June she had surgery for several things. All in all she had her teeth cleaned, 4 teeth removed, a cyst on her side removed, and was also spayed. She is recovering nicely from all this!
Meet Hazel Hazel had a rough start but has come a long way since entering the rescue. Through all her trials and tribulations she has maintained a very sweet demeanor.
Miss Hazel is very low key. Loves to lay around with her tongue out!! She loves everyone that comes into the house. Might actually give you a bark if you don't come and pet her fast enough!
Hazel came to us emaciated but oh so happy. She does get a little protective of her food for this reason. At first she had some trouble gaining weight. This was due to her teeth being in very VERY poor condition. It was making it difficult for her to eat. With some adjustments to her meals this got easier. And then she went and got her teeth cleaned and some removed that weren't worth saving. Now that her mouth is feeling better she's eating like a champ!!
With Hazel on the mend she's be a little more playful lately. She still doesn't have much interest in toys, but will take a plastic bottle from you if given the chance. All in all Hazel just wants her people to love her and take care of her. She's always there with a wag of her tail and a big sloppy kiss!
Sometimes in the game of life you are dealt a really crappy hand. It is apparent that is exactly what happened to this sweet soul, who we call Hazel.
At the age of nine poor Hazel was discarded at a high volume shelter after she must have aged out of her usefulness. It is clear that Hazel has never known a life of love, compassion or care. Hazel has numerous medical problems including a lung nodule, masses on her body and the worst teeth our vet has ever seen. Even though life turned its back on Hazel she did not turn her back on it. Maybe she knew someday we would find her and rewrite her ending as Hazel is kind, loving and gentle.
Hazel is now comfortable in the care of her awesome foster family where she is learning what life is really about.
Hazel has a long road to recovery ahead of her and we need your help to pave that road.
Please please please (if it sounds like we are begging it's because we are!) consider helping us help Hazel!

Looking for a well mannered dog able to go to work with landscaping crew. At least a year n half. Please no time for house breaking. Live down the shore. Plenty of loving care and dog savy. Thank you
