This compact guy with big ears and an even bigger heart is Heath! He shows his unique brand of affection by smiling at you, gazing at you with his soulful eyes, resting a gentle paw on your leg while you sit together, and giving lots of free hugs and kisses. Heath loves his humans. He also likes to get out and run, followed by naps, plenty of naps.
Well-trained, Heath is great on a leash, and enjoys his crate. Heath loves playing with dogs of all sizes, but he has some dominance issues tending towards larger dogs. He's training diligently to correct this. He's perfectly polite with cats but has had no exposure to children; a slow introduction is needed. An ideal forever home will be devoted to keeping Heath socially-active.
Found wandering the streets of Killeen, Heath came to APA with a skin condition. We don't now the cause, but the residual hair loss and his skin are healing on their own. Other than a slight limp on his left front leg that slows him down only slightly, he is a healthy pup waiting to meet his forever family.
If Heath sounds like a good fit for your household, he'd love to meet you, ears and all!
And remember, all APA adoptions come with free behavior assistance through APA's behavior team. And when you adopt a dog from APA, you are saving not one, but two lives - the life of the dog you're bringing into your home, and the next dog APA can save in the adopted dog's place.
