Hi! My name is Hendrick, and thanks for stopping by my page. I'm a 1.5 year old fawn male boxer. I have natural ears and a docked tail. I came into LBR'S care because I excaped my yard one day and ended up getting hit by a car. I wandered up to someone's porch and they took me to the animal shelter to get help and hopefully find my owners. My owners never came, so the nice people at Legacy came to save me. I ended up with some road rash and 3 fractures in my pelvis. The nice doctors told me I had to be restricted to a crate for 6 weeks to allow my fractures to heal. So far, so good. Because of this, I do great in a crate. I whine sometimes, but that's only because I can hear the other dogs in my foster home and I want to play with them, it's not because I'm in pain. In fact, I don't feel much pain from my injuries.
I do good with dogs of all shapes and sizes. My foster home has a big boxer, a husky, and sometimes watches a chihuahua, and love all of them. They also have 4 kids who I adore. I've even met their 3 cats and I think they are pretty cool too. The 2 younger cats are scared of me, but the older one loves to lick me and I return the favor.
I am learning some basic commands, but have shown my foster family that I know sit because I sit for treats and fruit (I like pineapple and strawberries so far). I haven't figured out the dog door yet because my foster family doesn't want me to using yet so I don't injure my pelvis, but I take care of my business when they let me outside. They say I'm good on a leash. I pull sometimes because when I finally get out of my crate, I have a lot of energy to get out. I'm also young, but I'm learning.
I can't wait to meet my furever family. My foster family says that whomever adopts me is going to hit the jackpot. Will you be my furever family?!?!
If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out our adoption application to begin the process.
