Hey you herding breed lovers meet Jack!
Jack came into a local animal shelter last fall as a stray and has now been in foster care for a few months. He is guessed to be about 5 years old and is housetrained.
Jack is hoping to find a special human to strongly bond with and to play fetch and go on long walks with. His ideal home would be a quieter environment without a lot of activity or people coming and going.
Jack's instinct is to bark and sometimes charge/chase moving objects in his environment like bicycles, skateboards, strollers, and joggers. He may also bark/lunge at strangers who move towards him or move too quickly. He is more nervous of males than females. With management and training in his foster home he is doing well while out and about in the neighbourhood but will require ongoing help with these triggers.
Jack is looking for a home with experience working with and training fearful/reactive dogs using counter conditioning, desensitization, and positive reinforcement. A female guardian would be easier for Jack, however, interested male adopters with the aforementioned experience will be considered.
Jack is not suitable for apartment living as he can be quite vocal or a home with children under the age of 15.
Jack is an affectionate and snuggly guy who will thrive in a home that keeps him feeling safe and manages his interactions to set him up for success.
