Hi! My name is Jade and I am a beautiful, blue girl who greets every morning with smiles and tail wags. I am approximately 2 years old, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and weigh about 40 lbs. I came into foster care with a blue male who was probably my brother or son. We were brought to the shelter with collars but no tags or microchips. No one ever claimed us so ACDRA stepped up. The boy I hung out with is now living the good life in Massachusetts. Foster mom says I was probably used for breeding (because I had such low hanging teats) and received very little socialization.
My activity level is medium (for a cattle dog-so keep that in mind). I don’t really play any games but I do love chew toys. Foster mom is my most favorite person and I like to be by her side all the time, including bedtime. New people make me slightly nervous but I wag my tail and give kisses and move in for love. New dogs are not my thing. I get so nervous and scared that I lunge at them! I live with 3 dogs and a cat now and after a few weeks I learned that they were not going to hurt me and now we get along.
**A note from Jade’s foster mom** Jade is a true cattle dog, not just in looks but temperament as well. This girl is just a bundle of unrealized potential! She knew nothing when she came and she is a challenge to train but she wants to learn once she fully trusts you. She definitely needs a home without small kids because they scare her. She is 90% housebroken and has pretty good recall-once she knows you. She loves to play chase and wrestle with her foster siblings. She needs an experienced home that appreciates ALL aspects of this breed and be willing to do the slow introduction needed to other dogs.
Although she does not meet dogs well she probably would do best with another dog in the home. The resident dog should not be a submissive dog, as Jade would take advantage and be overly bossy. She does like to play fun police so we keep her close if someone is playing fetch with one of the other dogs. She is crated when we are not home but will bark if she is the only one crated then quiets once other dogs are in the room with her. She walks very nicely on a leash and behaves well at the store. If you feel you have what it takes to bring this girl to her full potential, fill out an application on the ACDRA website. Questions? Email firstname.lastname@example.org. Jade is being fostered in Reinholds, PA.
