Anyone wanting to adopt a German Shepherd MUST have knowledge about their needs. These are very intelligent dogs that need lots of exercise, both physically and mentally.
Please discuss and consider if you are now, and will be in the foreseable future, in a financial position to provide to the dogs needs, unexpected vet bills, and common health issues specific to the breed.
PLEASE ENSURE YOU READ ALL THE INFORMATION PROVIDED TO LEARN ALL ABOUT JASON, HIS LOCATION AND ADOPTION OPTIONS.
JASON is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heart-worm tested negative, de-wormed and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 7 May 2016 and at the time of rescue weighed approximately 20 pounds. He was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and brought to the safety of the rescue in Maine.
JASON is a larger than life, fun loving puppy. He loves to talk and has this martian like language when he is talking to you. He gets on great with other dogs and currently lives with small chi's weighing just 4 pounds up to German Shepherds weighing 95 pounds and all sizes in between. He is responsive and I believe will be fun and easy to train. He is affectionate and loves to come and cuddle, or will just lay his head on your lap to get his ears scratched.
JASON is a young boy and so would benefit from an active family who like the outdoors and will take him on road-trips and adventures, to let him enjoy the fresh air and the sights, sounds and smells the work has to offer. JASON does need training and will need a family that has time and the dedication to teach him both basic and advanced obedience. We suggest that families work on training JASON themselves so that they all can learn each others body language, personality and the family be able to set boundaries and expectations.
We do not have cats at the rescue so we are unable to say how any of our dogs would react around cats.
We currently feed SPORTMIX Wholesomes Chicken Meal & Rice Formula, a 4* (a per www.dogfoodadvisor.com) GRAIN FREE food along with pro-bioitics and immune support supplements listed on the available dogs page!
JASON is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $250. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious boyl a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements. Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. http://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org/application.html JASON is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). There are also lots of wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.
