Jax is a character. Jax is super sweet. LOVES everyone and wants nothing more than to PLAY PLAY PLAY. He is learning "sit" and "down" pretty well. Working on "stay".
Jax needs an active person that can keep up with his energy. His back leg appears to be fine now. He does not favor it anymore.
The vets that we have talked to said we could amputate or leave his leg how it is. He may develop problems later in his life if we leave it but for now he is doing great just the way he is. He gets along with dogs that are not dominate. He will chase cats if they run but otherwise pretty much leaves them alone. He loves anything squeaky and will try to destuff his toys so we normally watch when he is playing with them. He likes rope toys which are pretty indestructible. He's a puppy though when you think about it and enjoying every minute of his life.

Jax is a sweet terrier mix that came from a kill shelter in TX. He was turned in by his family 3 weeks after their other dog attacked him. He had a broken front leg and what appears to be nerve damage to his hind leg. His front leg flops around yet this boy is as happy as can be.
He's a baby and wants nothing more than to run and play like any puppy does. His back leg is weak and will slow him down a bit at times. Jax will tire and try hopping around on just two legs.
He was recently to the vet who took an xray of his front leg as well as his hind leg to see what was going on. As we all knew too well , his front was broken but not the back one. We had a few options to try. First was to put if back in place and splint it to see if it would grow back since he is so young and his bones are still growing. Second, go in and shave both sides of the bone then hold them together with pins. Third, amputate. We decided for the first option. So the vet put a splint on his leg after she put it back into place while he was under for his neutered. This will stay on for 8 weeks and then we will xray again to see if the bone fused together. If not we will try other options.

We would like to thank Kym Ann and Amanda with Triumphant Tails, Inc. Without the two of them helping Jax would have been euthanized at the shelter.
