JellyBean is a 13 pound fluffy black Maine coon mix. He has the long whiskers, big paws, fluffy coat and tufts of fur between the toes and coming out of his ears with the softest coat ever. Rescued from a car engine as a kitten down in Long beach, JellyBean is hoping to find a loving forever family.
He loves being brushed and every morning he follows you into the bathroom and rolls over for you to scratch his belly. He has a lot of energy and loves to play tag, hide and go seek, and play with anything that dangles like the feather toys or can be pushed around with his paws like balls. Since he likes to run back and forth a lot, he would be especially happy in a larger place where he can get plenty of exercise because he does have a healthy appetite!
Though it takes JellyBean a little to allow you to snag him, once you pick him up he doesn't mind being held and won't struggle to get away from you. Jellybean isn't much of a climber the way some cats are and he doesn't need to be glued to you but if you're sitting on the couch to watch TV, he does like to sit on the top or arm of the couch and just chill. He is pretty quiet, rarely meows, just communicates with little chirps and coos. He is a low maintenance kitty who simply wants to hang out and live life.
Jellybean gets along with other cats and would probably enjoy a companion especially if his new parent is out of the house often. It's probably best he be placed in a stable home with consistent occupants as he takes a while to get acclimated to each new person so he will likely hide for occasional guests. Once you have his love and trust, JellyBean blossoms into an amazing kitty.
Jellybean has chronic URI that will flare up from time to time with sneezes and watery eyes. For the most part, he does not require any treatment so a home with fewer allergens would help control his symptoms. He’s been overlooked due to his watery eyes and shy at first demeanor, so don't let yourself miss out on this fabulous kitty!
JellyBean would be fine as an only kitty or with other cats, he also lived with Chihuahuas previously. He is neutered, tested negative for FIV/Felv, dewormed, flea treated, up to date on his vaccines, and microchipped.
