From the Foster: Jojo is a sweet older gentleman who is discovering a life of relaxation! When he arrived he was very thin, and had some issues with his coat and minor skin irritation. He had a mouthful of rotten teeth, and was likely in a great deal of pain. He was a little shy, and seemed to believe that the world didn't have much to offer him. What a difference some time, medical attention, and love makes!
First order of business was to deal with his teeth. He had all but one removed, has completely recovered, and is feeling SO MUCH BETTER. He has enthusiastically rejoined civilization! In just a short time, Jojo has gone from spending 95% of his time with his back to the world - to interacting with 2 resident cats and some foster kittens, 3 resident dogs and a few fosters, and several humans. He is a little shy with new people, but warms up quickly and is very responsive to treats and attention.
Jojo is doing well on a soft diet – he’s put on a little weight and with more activity he has shown some improvement in muscle tone and flexibility. He now roams around the whole house and yard. Jojo has checked back in to life, and has a spring in his step now.
Jojo is not currently kenneled at all. He has been very accepting of wearing a belly band when in carpeted areas to prevent accidents, so he has run of the house with the resident dogs 24/7, and has elected to sleep in the bedroom on a dog bed at night.
Jojo is very low maintenance – just a happy guy who will make a great companion. He is certainly happy to share a home with multiple animals, but would likely do well as an only too as he is really more human focused. He loves to travel from room to room with his people, and will share a lap/chair/couch when given the opportunity. He enjoys car rides and is always up for adventure!
Who needs a sidekick? This boy is ready to roll!
All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.
I f you would like to meet/adopt this animal or anyone else, then please fill out an adoption application at http://secondhandhounds.org/adoption-information/ and the foster(s) will be in touch! Keep in mind that there may be multiple applicants applying for the same animal(s). You only need to complete 1 application for multiple animals that you're interested in.
Note - We change an animal's listing to say "PENDING ADOPTION" when they already had a meet and greet with a family who plans to adopt that animal. We put "NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS" on a listing when an animal has multiple applications in and the foster has asked to stop accepting any more while they review the applications they've already received.
If you would like to be a foster for Secondhand Hounds, then please fill out a foster application, http://secondhandhounds.org/fostervolunteer-information/fostering-101/ You can choose the type of animal you'd like to foster and we will supply everything you need (food, collar, bowls, crate, etc.) while the animal is in your care.
Thanks for your interest in Secondhand Hounds!
