Foster Home Feedback
9/27/16: Khaleesi arrived at the rescue pregnant and a couple of weeks after her arrival, she gave birth to ten puppies! Needless to say, she's been very busy raising her pups! She moved in with us a few days ago, after she stopped nursing, and is starting to get used to life in a world without the demands of parenting. Her age is estimated to be about 2 years old so she's still very young and her fun, playful personality is emerging. She is rock solid with other dogs and people. She greets everyone with a crazy wiggly butt! She hasn't been around kids but I expect she'd be fine with them, although when she gets excited she might bump very young kids over accidentally. Since she has been preoccupied with parenthood, she hasn't had a chance to do much training and will need to learn basic obedience. She has a nice start and seems to have naturally good manners. Khaleesi is a medium sized dog. She weighs about 50 lbs.
Khaleesi's activities and experiences have had to be limited so she can be somewhat timid with new things. Right now, she is not interested in going near the stairs to our basement but she has gone upstairs. Her new family will need to be patient and let her experience things in her own time. With positive reinforcement and love, she will quickly adapt. She is potty trained and sleeps nicely on her own bed in our bedroom. She hasn't spent time in a crate but will go in it on her own to chew on her bone when we leave the door open. In her previous foster home, she was not crated since she needed to be available to her babies and she did fine in the house during the day, although she can be mischievous. Every now and then, Khaleesi will make a chew toy out of something that isn't a chew toy, like a hat or a shoe, since she is still young and is learning about life in a house. Limiting her access to those types of things and providing her with alternatives, like a Kong or chew bone, will help with this behavior.
I dare you to meet her and *not* fall in love!
