Meet Kiki. He is a lanky 8 month old – mom was a Golden, dad was a big, lanky Lab we think. Kiki was found with his sister, Lala (also in our rescue) on a mountain in Taiwan next to their dead pure breed Golden Retriever mom who had been poisoned. Kiki is very timid and we need to take everything very slow. All is new to him, and his initial reaction is not “curiosity”, but fear. He will freeze or try to run away. He is looking for an understanding and patient family with another well-socialized, friendly, confident and playful youngish dog. Once KIKI trust the human, he is very affectionate, gives kisses often, loves to gnaw on your hand and lick your toes. Kiki likes to jump up to greet you in the morning or when you come home (need to work on this). He will leap all over with delight and excitement in the morning. He will play fetch and bring the ball back to you. But he prefers to wrestle and chase his sister. He will allow his foster mom to take anything from his mouth, gently (even a raw bone). He will play tug with his human, and sister, Lala. He does steel food, so we are teaching him “wait” and “leave it”. Kiki is VERY food motivated and SMART. He now exhibits a very reliable “sit” and is learning “down” and “stay”, and “come”. Kiki prefers to sleep in his own kennel, but during the day naps under your desk or on his large bed or couch. Kiki is still very skiddish, and afraid of meeting new humans (no matter how gentle they try to be). But he is learning to trust. Kiki is kennel trained (and runs to it when he’s scared). Kiki is house trained (although a few accidents have happened). Kiki will need another confident, friendly dog to show him the ropes, a large yard to gallop through. His new family must demonstrate patience, have dog experience and knowledge about dog behavior. Kiki is full of energy. You can checkout the video posted of Kiki chasing the hose on our website. No children under 15 due to his fear.
