Kirie

American Pit Bull Terrier

Medium  |  Female

Englewood, CO

My name is Kirie. I am available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue (CCR), a nonprofit dog rescue located in the Denver area. I came to CCR from Canon City, Colorado. There is very little history on me. CCR has been told I am a bully breed mix. Because Kirie is part of the bully breed she is limited to cities/residences that do not have a breed ban.

Kirie seems to have lead a nomadic life. She came to CCR as a puppy and adopted quickly. Fast forward almost 2 years later, she wound up in the Aurora Animal Shelter. Because of the microchip they were able to tie her back to CCR. Whatever her life was like during that time, she did not lose the willingness to love humans and other dogs. She is the first to greet you at the door offering kisses and joy that you are home. She is a bit timid with other dogs and humans at first but it melts away once she feels secure. (tucks her tail). Kirie wants everyone to accept her. Her best bud in the foster home was a 3 month old terrier/chi mix puppy. The puppy was adopted and now she loves doing short spurts of chasing with the foster families male dog, that is the same age and a bit larger. Kirie is always willing to go out on a walk, needing leash training. On October 6th Kirie will have TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy is considered the best repair option for canine cranial cruciate ligament (ACL) tears).

Once recuperated Kirie will be an active dog, requiring lots of love, a yard, and need a dog pal to socialized with especially while you are gone, preferable a home with a doggie dog. She does well with cats, is house trained. Coming right from the shelter Kirie was anxious about being kenneled and left alone. She has learned she is now in a safe, loving environment so she does not need to be confined. Kirie weighs around 60 lbs and a strong dog, which is why she needs leash training. She loves to go for car rides, just to be with her person. She snuggles in bed with the foster parents, and enjoys naps on the couch. Kirie is just about ready for new adventures. Are you ready too?

If you are interested in adopting Kirie, please submit an adoption application located on our website, www.coloradocaninerescue.org. We are asking for a $175 adoption donation for Kirie. Please note, CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter. Again Kirie can only be adopted to those that are not restricted by a breed ban.
