Sweet as the candy that she is named after, Kit Kat is ready to come into your life and make it sweeter than ever! Kit Kat is a 27 lbs., 12 year old Boston girl with the greatest smile in the world who finds herself looking for a new home once again. Kit Kat had already been rehomed years ago when her original owner could not care for her any longer. When Kit Kat showed up in the Lancaster shelter a few months ago her original owner was still listed on her microchip. The shelter told them that at 12 years old Kit Kat would be euthanized if they did not come and bail her out. Only problem was that Kit Kat’s original owner already had too many animals at her house. Animal Control gave her a few weeks to find a place for Kit Kat to go or they were going to reclaim her. Boston Buddies took Kit Kat in to rescue to save her life. Kit Kat is a sweet lady who came to us with some bad teeth and weakness in her back legs. We got Kit Kat’s teeth taken care of and took her to see the neurologist. Kit Kat does have some neurological deficits - likely related to a chronic disk issue in the thoracic part of her spine . Her back legs have a tremor and she walks with a stiff gait. She can walk although her back legs tire out easily. The neurologist was hesitant to do surgery on a chronic issue as the outcome of surgery on chronic issues is unknown and can result in doing more damage than good. Since Kit Kat is walking the neurologist recommended that we treat her condition medically. We have started Kit Kat on an NSAID to help reduce inflammation, put her on fish oil and cosequin supplements and changed her diet to grain free. Kit Kat has done amazingly well on her NSAID. She has more energy and is much more eager to play with her foster siblings. Kit Kat is also seeing a physical therapist a couple days a week for cold laser therapy for pain and inflammation and underwater treadmill exercise to build up some back end muscle. Kit Kat has such a love of life. Her coat is super soft and really thick around her neck. Kit Kat prefers to sleep on her own bed at night – she loves the orthopedic bed at her foster home. Kit Kat gets so excited at meal time – she will do a little dance and prance around waiting for her food bowl. Kit Kat has learned to sit and wait for treats with all her foster brothers and sisters. Kit Kat is housetrained with a doggie door. She is just an adorable girl who has a ton of love left to give. If you would like to add some sweetness to your life, first step is to complete and submit an Adoption Application. You can do it online here –http://www.bostonbuddies.org/…/applic…/adoption-application/
Kit Kat is spayed, up to date on shots, micro chipped, heartworm and fecal tested (both negative) and she has just had her teeth cleaned so she is ready to give you some Bostie kisses. She is ready to find a forever home in time for the holidays – maybe even in time to hand out some Kit Kat bars at Halloween!
Kit Kat's Adoption Fee of $200 has been sponsored by one of her many fans! You can view more pictures of Kit Kat on our Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BostonBuddiesInc/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1244282748961551
