New to OCDRT on 8/20/2016 from a northern Kentucky shelter.
Kizzy is being fostered in Creston Ohio.
Kizzy is 2.5 years old spayed female. Her name means 'Cinnamon' for her pretty red coat. She is a very sweet girl who is learning that the world isn't out to get her. She is learning how to walk on a leash, and is already catching on quickly. She is a quieter cattle dog and will slowly try and sneak up to sit with you on the couch. She also is your little shadow in the yard, she likes to hang right with you. Although a little afraid, she introduced great to other dogs big and small, and kitties too. She wags her tail really hard at the other dogs! She thinks respectful kids are just fine, and will let them come up and pet her. She likes to be petted and will seek out attention. She is good in the crate, and learning to potty outside. She needs a home that will help build her confidence and take their time to get to know this sweet girl! Please check back for updates as we get to know Kizzy better.
UPDATE 8/30/2016: Kizzy has a deposit to hold her from an approved applicant for her meeting on 9/12.
UPDATE 9/12/2016: Kizzy's meeting went well and she's headed to her forever home. Please check back for updates as she settles in over the next 2 weeks.
UPDATE 9/20/2016: Kizzy has returned to OCDRT though no fault of her own. Just not the right home for her needs. Please stay tuned for an update as we re-evaluate Kizzy.
UPDATE 9/29/2016: She's ready for her forever home! Kizzy has recovered well from her little 'at large' adventure. She's regaining her lost weight and her confidence. She is starting to play with the other dogs & people. If there is another dog in the home, it needs to be a stable laid back male who is not going to react to her 'fearful' moments as she adjusts when playing & once she adjusts she is more of a dominate female during play. She will require a fenced in yard, as we are seeing a new Kizzy now that she's not on a long line. Kizzy seeks out her humans when something scares her, pepperoni is an amazing reward! Kizzy needs an ACD experienced person who can help her become the confident ACD she is showing her Foster Mom.

ADOPTION INFORMATION: P lease email firstname.lastname@example.org for an adoption application, as this is the first step to the adoption process. We are better able to suggest a potential match after reviewing your completed application. We require a telephone interview, check references, home support visit, & a contract and adoption fee of $250 applies. All our foster dogs are altered, heartworm tested and kept on prevention, tick borne disease tested, receive DHLPP, Bordatella, Lyme, & Rabies vaccine, fecal tested & de-wormed as necessary, micro-chipped, any additional medical concerns or behavior concerns are addressed, crate trained, leash trained, and are kept on a premium food.
PLEASE NOTE: This Rescue is not a public shelter. This dog is being fostered in a private home until adoption. Our fosters are adopted on first come, first serve basis, with applications being processed in the order received. If approved for adoption, a deposit is required to hold the dog until a meeting can be arranged. We do require prospective adopters to travel to the home of the foster dog along with all family members, including any resident dog(s). This is the only way to see the known temperament of our fosters dogs, while they are in the home they feel is 'their's'. Any behavior concerns with meeting new people/dog(s) on their home 'turf' will be visible at the meeting.
