This beautiful girl came to Eleventh Hour Rescue as a found stray in the Carolinas and named Leia Beau. From shy and timid, underweight and malnourished, Leia has transformed into Lulu the Lovebug and has come into full expression of herself.
She is healthy and happy in her foster home with three other dogs. She gets along with a 75 pound Bully Breed mix, a 35 pound Plot Hound mix and a 10 pound Chi mix. She has passed basic obedience and is food motivated, making teaching and learning an easier task. The trainer’s kind words were, “A lot of rescues come with some baggage or damage from a trauma. Lulu is just happy being a dog”. Her understanding of basic commands, sit, stay, down and paw are accompanied with constant leash training. She can be a handful on a walk but settles in with corrections.
Lulu would do best in a fenced in yard or with a family that would walk her at least once per day. She is a very young two to three year old and very playful. However, she settles in for movies and popcorn just as easily. She is crate trained and best in the crate when unattended as she can get into trouble, like opening kitchen cabinets to find her kibble.
Lovebug is not only part of her name, it is her nature and she enjoys cuddling and closeness when she is done playing. She is a constant companion and a fountain of true love. She does well during car rides, gets along with other dogs and tends to be more dominant than submissive. A family with preteen children would be a dream come true for this girl, but she would be happy with anyone that opens their heart and home to her.
She is available for meet and greets and has a clean bill of health. Lulu is very well behaved and the foster family would be happy to sponsor Basic Obedience Level II at Pawsitive Experience in Rockaway so she and her new family can enjoy another aspect of the bonding experience with her.
