Loki is a love of a dog and shows significant affection to those who care for him and those whom he trusts. He does get nervous around people he does not know (especially men) but, once he knows you, he will love you! Loki loves to play fetch, run around in the yard, and his favorite past time: Playing in the yard with the sprinkler and hose, which he'll often do for hours! (In winter, he loves the snow!) He would thrive in a home where he has a yard to play in and/or someone to play with him. He also loves and has thrived at doggie socials and doggie daycare, where he can stay active and play; he really enjoys playing with other dogs. Loki does enjoy being the center of a loving parent's world; he will shower you with kisses, put his toys in your lap to play, and fall asleep in your lap.
Loki has successfully undergone 4+ months of obedience training, and his trainer has said that Loki's quick learning and understanding of commands is on-par with dogs that are trained to be service dogs. He is a very intelligent dog who thrives with structure, routine, and loves to be praised for doing well. Loki understands the commands: heel, sit, down, crate, bed, stay, leave it -- and when on a leash, he will look to his owner for a command before entering doorways or jumping into a car. He responds well to doggie cookies as a reward for doing a great job! At this point in Loki's training, he would benefit significantly from regular socialization with humans he does not know, and additional obedience training with 'distractions' (i.e., getting Loki to focus on the command vs. the thing that makes him anxious -- loud noises, strangers).
