Louis was surrendered by a family at 1yr old and was originally obtained at a pet store. He was not well socialized, lived in a fenced yard, the owner had 4 kids and bred bulldogs. They reported the bulldogs were attacking him and he was miserable. He currently lives with 3 kids 10-15 years old and 3 cats, chickens. I brought home a Newfoundland pup when he was 1.5 and they love each other. He has always been very anxious, is scared of men, hats, unusual clothing, motorcycles, bicyclists. He is overall good with other dogs. About 1 year ago he started to develop anxiety towards strangers in the house, mostly teenage boys and men. He always has been a little off and on nervous when he sees my husband come in the house but then immediately calms when my husband talks to him. We obtained the help of a trainer and started positive reinforcement stranger training. He seemed to still be very unpredictable and would react very strongly to some but not others. We started to crate him when strangers came in, which has worked well. Still giving treats and positive reinforcement in the crate. Louis will need a home with an experienced Great Pyrenees owner.
