LOUISE & THELMA (Must be adopted together!!) Thelma - White with Orange Louise - Mostly Orange with White boots - "legally" blind but you would be hard pressed to know...she acts like any other cat in the world! Approximate DOB: August 15, 2010 Thelma and Louise are sisters, and they are approximately three years old. They were rescued in Decatur when they were approximately three months old. They suffered from a congenital condition called Eyelid Agenesis, which means they were born without eyelids. They both had eye surgery to correct this problem. Both Louise and Thelma need eye ointment put in their eyes several times a week. The ointment is not expensive and both cats are easy to medicate. Thelma’s eyesight is perfect, but Louise is blind. Louise had to have one eye removed and can only see shadows and light from her remaining eye. Being blind, does not stop Louise from doing kitty things. She roughhouses with her sister, runs up and down her cat tree, finds her food and her litter box just fine. She can also navigate any room once she becomes familiar with her surroundings. I have even taken her traveling with us in our travel trailer and she did just fine once she adjusted to her environment. They are both very sweet, loving cats. Louise, especially, loves to curl up in your lap and take naps. She’ll also likes to play with your hair. Both Thelma and Louise love tummy rubs, spending the day sunbathing from their cat tree, and keeping you company while you’re on the computer. A few facts about blind cats: blind cats can do pretty much everything that a seeing cat can do. They have no idea they are blind. They know they are cats, and they act and play like cats. One thing that will stop a blind cat is a gate, fence or wall because they cannot see the other side of it and they have no concept that they can get to the other side. Blind cats can climb trees and cat perches, but they tend to back down feet first. As with all Forgotten Felines cats for adoption, Thelma and Louise are spayed and current on their shots and tests.
