Lucas and his siblings, Elle, Mike, and Dustin, arrived in the Baltimore shelter when they were a little over three months old. Their mother, Molly, was comfortable with people, but it quickly became apparent that these kittens were born stray, and unsocialized. For some cats, this means they may become difficult to socialize and always fearful of people. Mama Molly had taken great care of her litter, and their weights were very healthy. The whole family was treated for fleas and given their shots, and then handed over to Fancy Cats for socialization.
Lucas is a beautiful cat who is still learning to trust people. He is shy at first, and will run away if approached quickly, but with a careful introduction and patience, he is learning that people are pretty cool. Once he relaxes, Lucas is happy to play or have a belly rub. He has a great purr and will make muffins while you pet him! He is very curious about humans and will approach you gradually if you spend time near him. Like any young cat, Lucas has a lot of energy, and will need to go to a home with one of his siblings or with another young, playful cat who can keep him busy and play with him. He would do best in a home without young children since their movement and noise level would be frightening.
Please note that it is Fancy Cats policy that kittens be adopted in pairs or have an age-appropriate playmate in the home already. We also do not adopt kittens to families with children under six years old without seeing appropriate history/experience with cats.
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application and a representative will get back to you shortly to answer any questions you may have. The application can be found at this link (copy-paste into a new window): http://tinyurl.com/k5xd2vr.
