MEET LYLA!! She is courtesy posted for Maricopa County Animal Care & Control.
Approximately 3 years old and looking for a furever home!
Our LONGEST shelter resident, Lyla had an amazing day foster outing the other day. Lyla will make an AMAZING family dog, if she just gets the chance!
Here's what Lyla's Day volunteer had to say about her~
"She traveled well in the car, staying in the back, standing up and moving forward once in a while to give me kisses. We went to the Biltmore lakes, where she had a blast rolling in the grass and jumping/running in the water splashing water all around. When we came home she enjoyed running in the yard and cooling off in the pool. She really loved playing with the hose, trying to catch the water!
According to the notes she was surrendered to the shelter due to aggression towards other animals, however I did not see any of that during the time together. She did not react in an aggressive manner towards my dogs through the fence (no fence fighting, not lunching or posturing) and appeared quite relaxed around them, even when they barked at her. She did well at PetSmart around other dogs there too.
She has a charming personality, affectionate, playful, happy and joyful is the best way to describe her! She loved spending time in the house and took a nap on the sofa (an unusual luxury for a shelter dog). She found the doggy door and used it without any problems to go outside. On the way back to the shelter we enjoyed an ice cream together (she could eat from the cup but was clearly happier when I "accidentally" dropped chunks on the floor). At the shelter she allowed a bath to clean up all the mud from rolling on the grass and went to her kennel without any problems.
Six months is a very long time to be in a small kennel, day after day, hoping to get out for a little bit with a nice volunteer if time permits and dreaming with a place to call home. My wish for Lyla is to find a forever family very soon, and I hope the feedback and the pictures/videos of our time together help to show who she is, an affectionate, happy dog who will be a great addition to any family!!"
