Meow from Mac. I am a big black cuddly fellow looking for my forever family. Might it be with you and yours? The family who found me, and brought me here, said that I was a playful boy and good with there children while I was in there care. Please come see me very soon!
There is one thing I need to share with you, I have FIV and feline leukemia, but don't be sad for me, I am healthy and happy and just waiting for a home to share my love and affection in!
Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is a feline-specific virus that affects a cat's immune system and makes him or her more susceptible to other ailments. However, FIV kitties usually live a fairly normal life with a typical average lifespan. They don't require any special care other than that which every cat deserves--a good diet, a safe, indoor environment, regular veterinary care, and lots of love and attention. FIV is passed through deep, puncturing bite wounds, which is why it so often is found in unneutered, free-roaming males.
Feline leukemia is a viral infection that attacks a cat's immune system and makes him or her susceptible to other ailments such as anemia and various forms of cancer. The typical lifespan for a leukemia positive cat is between three and five years after infection. Feleuk is spread to other cats through intimate contact such as mutual grooming and sharing of food bowls and litter boxes, so Mac would need to be in a single cat household or in a home with other leukemia positive cats.
