MARCIA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Marcia Breed: Catahoula Mix
Approximate Age: 2-3 years SEX: female
Approximate Weight: 50 lbs
Has Lived With: other dogs
Currently Living at: DC boarding. Marcia needs a foster home, or even better yet, a forever home!
Special adoption considerations: Marcia would do best in a home without cats.
Marcia is a gorgeous 2-3 year old Catahoula mix. She weighs about 50 lbs and, because of her age, she's done growing. We don't know how this friendly girl ended up in a shelter but she can't wait to find her forever family!
Marcia will need plenty of exercise and playtime each day to be a happy and healthy pup. She would love to go on long walks and regular trips to the dog park. After she's tuckered out, Marcia loves curling up for a nice nap and belly rub. She can't wait to go to obedience training with her new family so that she can bond with her people and become her very best self!
Marcia is good with other dogs so she'd be a great addition to an existing pack or happy to soak up all the attention as an only dog. The nice folks at Lucky Dog don't know how Marcia is with young children but if you're interested, let us know and we can try to find out!
Previous Foster update: "Marcia is doing great! We've gotten so many comments from friends about how friendly she is with people and with other dogs. We've gone for several walks and she does great on the leash. She's very friendly with dogs we run into and little kids that ask to pet her. She rarely barks and sleeps great in the crate at night. So far we've found she loves fetch with tennis balls and bones with peanut butter in them. She's such a good dog! We feel like we've really lucked out fostering her."
Like most shelter dogs, Marcia may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained.
Marcia has tested positive and been treated for for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative.
The adoption fee for this dog is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Meg H at email@example.com!
