Marie was found, along with Donnie, as a stray. According to our vet, she appeared to have been used as a breeder, and had numerous litters of puppies. Now as a middle aged female, she had mammary tumors! So we had her spayed and her tumors removed (they were all benign). By spaying her, her chances of more tumors are very low. Amazingly, she did not have heartworms and her blood work was within normal ranges. She shows mores signs of abuse or neglect than Donnie, so it is a slow progress with Marie. She definitely has spent her life caged up and has worn her teeth down biting at the wires (she had a complete dental and lost only one tooth, but has several worn down; she has to be kenneled with another dog to keep her from doing this! She will also dig out if left alone without a humane in the yard. She is trying very hard to learn to potty outside and go to the door when she needs to go out. Since she has spent her life in such disgrace, we will adopt her (hopefully with her companion - Donnie) to a home where someone is home almost 24/7 and no small children.
