Merida is a big bundle of love just waiting for someone to love on and kiss. She will go to bed on command, knows the "sit" and “stay” commands and is learning to not pull on her leash when she sees another dog coming down the street. She is a high energy dog and now that she’s cured of her heartworm disease, she can FINALLY run around the yard and play. Only one caution needs to be made about Merida – she doesn’t like cats. Merida was picked up as a stray and taken to a county shelter. This gorgeous girl didn’t belong there so when her time was up, we made her a Furkid.
Update from foster: Merida is good with children, but cats are a definite no. She has some dog aggression but is being put through training with a professional trainer and they feel she will be able to get along with other dogs. She walks well on a leash now, and responds to her name. She likes to sniff around and investigate when outside, but definitely likes humans more than other animals. She will lick you until the sun goes down, very affectionate. Her commands now include SIT, STAY, and LEAVE IT. She works very hard to please her human family.
Since Merida’s estimated birthdate is 12/15/2010, her adoption fee is $275 [senior citizens (age 62 and older) and military personnel receive a 15% discount on adoption fees]. If you want to know more about Merida and to speak to an Adoption Counselor, please complete an application at https://furkids.org/dog-adoptions/application.
