Sisters Michelle and Teresa were brought to the shelter by their prior owner and nursing each other’s babies. We don’t know which belongs to which. Michelle and Teresa must be adopted together because they are so bonded. Michelle is larger and typically stands guard while Shelly does most of the nursing, but they still take turns. They are OK with kids and take time getting used to the dogs. They are very verbal, particularly Michelle who will call out if she doesn’t know where you or her kittens are, or if she thinks they are in trouble. She usually settles down if you meow back. Teresa has a short tail with a couple of prominent kinks, and we think she was born like that. Her ears have very interesting markings. They are both very sweet and affectionate. They appreciate your attention. They sometimes like to sleep on the bed. They are not destructive, and they use the litter box. They like Friskies canned food for a treat. Teresa is friendly in the way she approaches strange cats. But then she places herself between them and her kittens, and swats them away if they get too close. Both mammas even flew through the air and jumped onto a large dog that accidentally got too close to their babies. It was incredible to see their courage and willingness to die if necessary for their babies and each other. They are all named after a family that is close to the fosters. Teresa was named after the mother who was left alone to raise her four young children when her husband passed away. Michelle is named after Teresa’s mother.
