Milo was found as a stray. He was healthy, friendly, and is a purebred. Usually an owner would be frantically looking for a guy like him, but we notified everyone possible and no response. After an extended waiting period, we put him up for adoption.
He's a really good boy-- he comes when called, likes to be near people, always smiling, is housetrained, likes other dogs (but he may annoy them- he can be a little too much to handle) and likes everyone he meets. He is not tested with cats. He is very affectionate and loves attention from both people and dogs. He would likely be good with kids.
Sadly, he had never been trained a day in his life. He did not know any basic commands, and still isn't crate or car trained. During his time at the shelter he has been taught "sit" and "shake" and learned those commands fast. He really enjoys training time and is fairly smart.
He did an overnight evaluation with our trainer and she concluded that he has anxiety in many aspects. The best cure to his anxiety is lots of exercise and bonding time with his people. His owners will need plenty of patience because he has no idea what manners are expected of him. He has separation anxiety - he barks and whines when he can't be near people. We try to train this out of him, but it's tough in a loud environment. He has a tense body nearly all the time-- the poor boy needs to learn to relax.
He also needs to be with someone willing to show him some discipline. When he is with people who have "weak energy", he walks all over them. He actually loves leadership and takes corrections well from both people and other dogs. He is a follower. He loved a dog in the trainer's house so much that he wouldn't leave his side. They played together, slept together, etc. He would make an amazing companion to another dog.
