Spinal injury as a baby requires a SPECIAL home
One word describes Minerva, courageous. Found at 4 weeks of age weighing less than 1 pound, in very poor condition and unable to use her back legs because of a spinal injury inflicted by a human she has come a long way. She has gained strength and flexibility from receiving physical therapy and playing with the four cats in her foster home...in addition to the love and care she has received from all the caregivers since she was found.
Minerva is determined to do, and usually succeeds, at everything the four cats she lives with do, including climbing the six foot scratching post. She loves playing with wands, but her favorite is the Laser pointer and chasing the occasional fly that gets in the house. It is surprising how quickly she can move when she wants to.
Minerva is now ready for a forever home. Her forever person will need to keep her leg muscles flexible with stretching and massaging. The spinal injury does not allow her brain to process the need to use the litter box in enough time for her to pull herself to the litter box. Therefore, she needs to be taken and placed in the litter box and/or have her bladder manually emptied several times daily. This keeps her accidental floor piddling under control.
Everyone that has met Minerva, including all the Veterinarians that have worked with her the past ten months, have fallen in love with her and her spirit. She does well with other cats, small dogs do not seem to bother her, a home with older children would be okay. There are no special diet or medication needs. Minerva is an extraordinary kitty who needs a loving forever home she has always deserved.
