MONKEY is a charming 7-month-old male Great Dane and Pit Bull mix who was rescued from a high intake shelter where he faced euthanasia because he had a treatable medical condition. Fully recovered, he is now eager to find his forever family! Weighing 50 lbs and with an expected adult weight of 75+ lbs, Monkey is a playful and affectionate young fellow who really knows how to monkey around! He is a favorite at doggy day care, and would be delighted to continue to have an active social life in his forever home. Monkey lives in a foster home with other dogs and with cats; his feline foster siblings quite like him thanks to his gentle manners (he does like to run off with their cat beds sometimes!). He walks politely on leash and is making excellent progress with his housebreaking. He is crate trained and learning basic commands. Monkey's favorite activities include playing with other dogs, chewing on Nylabones, cuddling, sunbathing, watching people cook, and eating. He has adorable markings and we think it's extra special that he has brown eyelashes on one eye and white eyelashes on the other. Monkey has a laid-back medium energy level, and is best suited to households with teenagers and adults (we don't know why, but Monkey is terrified of boys ages 5-10ish). Monkey will thrive in a household that will continue to provide the structure and guidance for him to develop into the outstanding adult dog he is meant to be. He will do especially well in a home that has previously had large-breed dogs. Monkey is a loyal and loving pup who will bring a lot of fun and friendship into his forever home.
