When being introduced to Bo—short for Mr. Bojangles—it’s best to let this lucky little lover speak for himself. We’ve got his story, thanks to his rescuer and foster, who’s spent plenty of time getting to know this special guy.
“Hi! I’m Bo. I used to live in the East Village, in dirty streets and backyards, and I was scared of people. I was also hungry and cold…a LOT. Then, this lady started to feed me every morning and evening, which was pretty great. All that good, healthy food made me a happy cat, happier than I’d ever been. But I still wouldn’t go within 15 feet of that lady, ‘cause I was scared of people, and she was one. So that lady had to leave my food and walk away before I’d go up and eat it. It was a little routine we had, and I thought it worked out just fine!
Then, one fateful day, that lady brought some friends—and fresh tuna. I was seduced by the yummy treat, and that’s when they trapped me! I was petrified, miserable, freaking out—you name it—until they brought me inside their home in a large cage on my very own balcony. It’s not easy to land yourself a special condo like that, considering how expensive New York real estate is!
Now, I sit on a table and look out into the backyards I used to live in, and my meals are regular and super delicious, and there are soft blankets for me to sleep on, and toys, and scratch pads… With all this incredible pampering, I started to trust that lady. She was nice and patient and good to me, and taught me how great pets and cuddles are. Now, all I want is to be hugged and pet, when I’m not enjoying the freedom and luxury of getting to play. Life indoors is the best!
Sometimes, the lady lets me out of my cage-condo and I run around the house, lie on the couch, and have an amazing time. But she has two other cats—and because I have FIV, she separates them from me, and won’t let me out all the time. I’ll admit, I’m going stir crazy. I’d love to be in a house where I don’t have to spend most of my time in a cage, where the couch can be mine—and yours—and I can play and cuddle all day long. People are great when they’re nice to you. So, what do you say? Will you take me in?”
Bo is approximately 2 years old, neutered, up to date on his vaccines, and negative for felv. He’s positive for FIV, as he mentioned, but that only means he needs to stay indoors and eat high quality food—which any cat should!—and he’ll live a long, happy, healthy life.
