Meet Munchie, he is approx 5 years old and so sweet and gentle and is in love with everyone he meets. He would make a great dog for an apartment or a nice tv partner. Below is what his foster has to say about him, and the foster calls him Max, that is why he is referred to that in the below information.
Brief description of your foster pet (coloring, short or long coat, size, etc.)
Max is an adorable, lovely little brown and black mixed colored Retriever mix. He’s about 5 years old. He is mostly brown with some black shading here and there. He has short hair and is of a small to medium build. He’s extremely affectionate and lovi
What makes your foster delightful/special?
Max is a sweet sweet little guy with a wonderful heart and disposition. He has sad insecure eyes when he looks at you. He was a little antsy and nervous when he first arrived but calmed down and became used to the routine quickly. He wants to please and just loves playing and going outside. He really really loves to be near you. He dearly loves hands on time with you, and your petting and rubbing his back and stomach and scratching his head. He has a pretty brown coat with those cool black markings. Max is very loveable. He is great on leash but is very inquisitive wanting to smell everything. He also loves to mark all the bushes whether they are a bush or just leaves. He loves for you to hug on his head and body and scratch him. He likes to play and is still learning how to. He has an extremely gentle mouth. He likes to play with soft toys or chew toys but usually just barks excitedly. He barks when he’s excited or is competing forr attention with another animal but in a fun way. He stays close to your side in the house or on the couch and waits patiently behind closed doors for you. He’s a big smoocher and love bug and likes to show his affection. He listens pretty well, except when outside and focused on an animal friend but is very smart. He has lots of energy but also mellows well too after some fun exercise or walk and ready to follow your lead.
Cute things your foster does that could be endearing or a personality point that would make people want to meet him/her.
Max wags his tail often and is always happy to see you. He loves people and overjoyed when you give him attention. He lays his head or front paws in your lap when you’re sitting or resting on the couch and just likes to be talked to. He really likes to get in your lap or lay on the couch with you. He’s an excellent, gentle lap dog. He loves to be cuddled and scratched and he’s small enough to get in your lap. He's very faithful and stays close by while you do your choirs, waiting patiently for you to spend time with him but can also rest patiently on the couch. He loves to run around and bark when you’re playing with him but he’s always easy and very gentle and never play bites. He’s a wonderful little loving dog.
What kinds of activities does your foster like most?
Max likes to play with soft small toys or chewy rubber toys. He doesn’t seem to like tennis balls or squeaky toys much. He sometimes likes to roll on his back and you grab his legs and mouth and wrestle some. He doesn’t seem to ‘get’ kong toys with treats; he must not have ever been shown this. He’s very good at just relaxing on the couch. He loves to be outside and go for short or long walks. He’s great on leash but don’t let go of the leash until he’s become very accustomed to being with you and coming to you. He’ll take off to explore in a heartbeat and is difficult to catch. Otherwise he’s great on the leash and rarely pulls. When he does, I give it a couple tugs with a “come” and he comes back. He goes almost wherever you ask him too. He was very tentative with getting in the car (had to pick him up) but once in, he seemed to enjoy it. He’s past the puppy s tage and never shows any destructive tendencies or chews at all on anything. But he does like his chew treats and billy sticks. He really likes to be near you and pet often however and in your lap or beside you on the couch.
Do you have a routine for your foster?
Max likes to go out first thing in the morning and last thing in the evenings if you crate him. He is fed once in the morning around 6-7ish and once in the evening around 5-7ish and often in between and dry left in his crate overnight. He seems to nibble on his food as he feels like it and seems to like to be in his crate when fed especially if there are other dogs around.
He’s great around cats and pet birds. He doesn’t even give them a second glance. He seems great with other dogs though and is mostly submissive and easy going unless they try to ‘mount’ him. He will fuss at them for that. He shows interest to distant barking and if let off leash may seek to check them out. I've left him in the house alone uncrated for a short period with no problems as long as I’m nearby and can keep a close watch on him initially. He never chews on any furniture just is a little insecure when getting used to a new place.

How social is your foster with new people? Please describe your foster's behavior when they meet new people.
Max is great with new people and seems to like everyone. He’s very easy going. First time he meets anyone, he is excited and wags his tail and is very happy. He just loves attention and to be pet. He is not at all aggressive and is very very affectionate. He does cower on occasion but just give happy positive reinforcement. He didn’t seem to know how to get in the car and while driving, he needed to be touching you with his paw. I haven't seen him around kids but again he seems easy going with everyone. Not snappy or bitey at all. He’s very excited and happy to meet anyone new and just to be outside a crate or outside near you.
How social is your foster with people they know? Please describe how your fosters behaves with people already known.
When he sees me in the mornings or afternoons he barks happy barks and wags his whole body and is thrilled to see me. He seems happy with everyone, old or new friend, wagging his tail and looks up at you with his sweet eyes, waiting to be pet and loved on. He’s very easy going and charming, affectionate and loving with everyone. He seems ready to go with whatever is asked of him and tries very hard to please.
Describe the ideal home for your foster.
Max is energetic, devoted, outgoing, inquisitive but well behaved. He is a perfect companion for an active family and loves being outside but loves being near people and being part of the family. He doesn’t seem to mind the crate and seems to think of it as his refuge at first to eat. He is sensitive and fairly responsive to commands but I was still working with him a lot with treats.. A fenced in area for him to run around in would be ideal so he can have some freedom off leash, but he does well on a leash for a short/long walk. He loves being inside too and loves to snuggle with you and would probably love to sleep with you. A home with lots of love to share with a wonderful little fun loving dog who will be forever faithful would be ideal. Just teach him the rules and he tries ha rd to please. Just rub his stomach and let him curl up with you and you’ll both be very happy.
If you were writing the bio about your foster, what would it be?
Max is an adorable, attentive young, smaller retriever mix about five years old and very smart. He is very well behaved but may have been punished once or twice, thus the reason he gets nervous and sometimes rolls over when he thinks he’s in trouble for no apparent reason. He does seem to be a little anxious when you leave him but doesn’t really whine or bark much. He loves being outside for short or long walks and would love to be in a fenced in yard. He’s ok with being in the car but is hesitant in jumping in and a little insecure while riding. But he always likes hanging out with you at home. He’s just very easy going and doesn’t have to be underneath you all the time. But if you ignore him when he’s close by, he will give you a paw often to help you remember he’s patiently waiting. He loves to wrestle and play and gets very excited. I also haven't seen him around thunderstorms or firecracker s but most animals are nervous around them. He loves people in general, loves attention but can sit and mellow on the couch with or without a treat when you’re busy. Max is a very loving, affectionate, charming and fun loving, sweet heart. He is just an adorable awfully sweet and gentle little guy and a joy to be around. He really needs a lot of love.
