Nico will you surprise you with his affectionate snuggling and tenderness; his fur truly feels like a mix of velour and silk! Nico enjoys walks and runs and is naturally very good on his leash. He greets strangers and dogs politely and loves to play with his foster sister and dogs at day care. Nico is loyal, calm, and always looks to his human for direction. He knows "sit", "touch", and "stay" commands, and is intelligent and motivated to learn more. Nico is still gaining confidence to stay home alone. He has many puppy-like characteristics with his beautiful big paws, happy smile, playful energy, love of toys, and enthusiasm for life! Nico's ears are huge and so is his heart. If you are interested in meeting a dog, we require an adoption application. Visit http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adopt.html to apply. If a dog has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon.
If a dog has "NEEDS FOSTER" listed, they are still available for adoption. City Dogs Rescue is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).
Prior to arrival, all of our dogs are spayed/neutered (unless specified) and given shots for Rabies, Distemper DHPP, and Bordatella. They are tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Anaplasma, and Ehrlichia. They are dewormed at least twice and given a health check by the vet. Most dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken or crate trained. Our adoption fee is $395 (including puppies) unless noted -- senior dogs are available for an adoption fee of $200.
We also update our Facebook page daily with new dogs.

CDR charges an adoption fee of $395 unless specified. This fee typically includes health care provided before adoption: all age-appropriate rabies, distemper, and bordetella vaccinations, flea and heartworm prevention prior to adoption, spay/neuter procedure, microchip when available, SNAP test for parasites, initial health check vet visit when going from the municipal shelter to City Dogs Rescue, and pre-adoption health care for dogs over the age of 1 year as needed. For puppies too young for spay/neuter: The fee is the same but does not include the cost of spaying and neutering.
