Odie is an active and energetic youngster around a year old weighing just under 13 lbs. This bright, busy boy is completely house trained and crate trained. He also knows verbal commands for sit, lie down, off, stay, go to (get in) crate, and spin. Odie loves treats and is easily motivated to learn new tricks and behaviors. He also loves playing with his toys. Life is good for Odie when he feels safe and comfortable in his surroundings. He is sweet and affectionate with people he knows. But things weren’t always so great, and he does present some behavioral challenges, thanks to less than ideal treatment in his previous home. Odie is very insecure and fearful, and certain situations bring him much anxiety. For instance, when walking on a leash, he reacts to passersby, other dogs, people on bikes, etc. by lunging and barking aggressively. He could be a bite risk if he felt threatened and a stranger did not respect his space. Odie’s new family will need to be understanding of his fears, diligent about avoiding situations where he might feel threatened, and willing to work with him to build his confidence and help him overcome his anxieties. Odie gets along well with the children in his current home, but he's stressed by the comings and goings of their friends. He is also scared of most dogs, so ideally a quiet home without a lot of visitor activity and where he could be an only dog would be best for Odie. A fenced-in yard to eliminate the need for leash walking for potty time and exercise would be perfect. This little guy has so much potential. With a little help, he will make someone an amazing companion. For more photos and a cute video of Odie, please visit his online album at http://ImageEvent.com/newrattitude/odie .
