"Young at heart" happy & affectionate fellow wants to share his love for life!
Colt is a calm and loving 8 year old, 45 pound, full-breed American Brittany. He was raised in a single-family household from the time he was a puppy. Unfortunately, he needed to find a new forever home when his owner passed away.
Colt will steal your heart with his secret talent – when you sing, Colt will sing back!! He smiles and spins in circles when he is happy (which happens several times every day). Colt also loves to sit in your lap and give you kisses.
He can be trusted to roam free around the house during the work day. Colt is not destructive – he does not chew on furniture or socks, only on dog bones. He has only had one or two accidents when his foster parents didn’t closely monitor water intake and bathroom breaks. At nighttime, he sleeps in a dog bed in his foster parent’s bedroom but would prefer to be snuggled up against his foster mom. Colt is not crate trained.
While Colt has very good house manners, he is still a work in progress. His foster parents are working with him to limit his indoor barking (though he is silent when he is outside), train him to stop jumping on visitors, and teach him to walk on a leash without pulling.
Colt does not show any preference between male versus female parents or visitors. Colt gets along well with his Brittany foster brother, though he does not show much interest in playing (in fact, his foster parents LOVE having him around because he has helped to calm his 2 year-old foster brother!). He has not been tested around cats or children. However, Colt’s foster parents suspect he would be good with children because he has never shown any signs of aggression. Colt is perfectly content to stay inside the confines of a 5 foot tall wire fence and does not require a big yard or house. Colt will require a fenced yard to keep him safe.
Colt is healthy, neutered, up to date on all vaccinations and microchipped.
