Our rescue will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express Saturday, October 22nd from 1-4pm and Sunday, October 23rd from 12-3pm. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, October 22nd from 1-4pm and Sunday, October 23rd from 12-3pm or until adopted. However, we do meet with those who submit an application and are approved just prior to the event (by invitation only) and they are given the first opportunity to adopt. If you are interested in one of our dogs, we recommend filling out an application prior to the event to be considered. Applications submitted within 24 hours of the event may not necessarily be reviewed.
Patsy is a 4-5 year old Dachshund mix. She gets along well with other dogs. She currently lives with big and small dogs and probably finds her courage with other dogs. Patsy is a dog who needs an experienced home. She has fear issues with strangers which makes her not a great candidate for those homes that have people coming and going and who aren't wiling to crate her or put her in a separate room. She is most comfortable when she isn't forced to interact with strangers. But she loves the quiet home with her human.
Patsy will require a home that is patient but most of all that is committed to her. She is dog who will bond with her people but not with strangers. It will take time. In her foster home she bonded immediately with the foster mom but the male in the house it took about a month before she really truly trusted him. He was consistent, patient and he never gave up on her. Now he can pick her up or do just about anything to her. But it took someone with experience and patience.
If you have a quiet home, not a lot of folks in and out, are experienced and willing to give a dog a home that will love you, then Patsy may be an option.
**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)
**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
