Pearl is in the hunt for a mellow, low-key family to match her personality. She is very friendly and affectionate, and takes a nice calm approach to life. And now that she's staying in an APA! foster home, she's showing us how good her house manners are!
Pearl is a healthy middle-aged dog who doesn't seem to have much interest in other dogs, positive or negative. When staying at our noisy shelter, she stays fairly quiet and keeps to herself. She shares her foster home with another dog, and the two of them have been friendly but generally keep to themselves.
We'd say Pearl has a moderate energy level at best. She definitely enjoys relaxing and is content to lounge around. However, though she is calm she's not lazy. Pearl has a spring in her step when it's time to take a walk. She's quite good on leash and enjoys being out for some exercise.
Are you looking for a dog who would love to spend hours learning all kinds of new tricks? Uh, better look elsewhere. Pearl knows her basic commands but isn't all that gun-ho about ongoing education. She's happy knowing what she knows. And one thing she knows is how to enjoy a good rub-down. She does love a petting session with her favorite people! She's very affectionate and a professional snuggler.
If you're looking for a low-maintenance partner, Pearl could be the girl for you. Don't forget that APA's behavioral team will be available to help with any questions. Plus, remember that when you adopt you'll help us free up space so that another dog can join us at APA!
