Perry is a 2 yr. old, 53 lbs. neutered male Red Tick Hound who is a typical hound dog with his nose to the ground checking things out! Perry is continually receiving training and positive reinforcement from his foster parents who know how important it is for him to be well behaved and socialized.
Perry loves a good belly rub and car rides! He also loves playing with other dogs and expresses his enthusiasm quite loudly - so loudly that he would be ideal in a single family home so he doesn't bother neighbors in townhomes, condos, or apartments. Due to Perry's separation anxiety, he would be ideal for someone who was home most of the time - he would be great for an active retiree or someone who worked from home. Perry is doing great with his housebreaking and will continue doing well as long as he is kept on a schedule. He actually walks to the door to tell you he needs to go outside!
If Perry sounds like the dog you may have been looking for, then don't hesitate and submit an adoption application now!
Like most shelter dogs, Perry may need a refresher on house training and crate training. We ask all of DC PAWS fosters to work on both house training and crate training with their foster dog.

About DC PAWS Rescue

Our rescue is an all-volunteer, foster-based dog and cat rescue in the DC area. We partner with a local rescuer in Pickens County, SC, who saves adoptable cats and dogs from the county’s animal control facility, which lacks the resources to facilitate adoptions to the public. Without a mechanism for local adoptions, all animals not claimed within the mandated hold period are euthanized. For the animals in this rural area, rescue is really the only lifeline. Our rescue partner not only works with DC PAWS to save as many dogs and cats as possible, but she has also established a successful spay/neuter clinic in the community to decrease the number of homeless and unwanted animals over the long term.

BE A FOSTER:

Fosters make it possible for DC PAWS to save and care for homeless, neglected and abandoned animals! To learn about fostering dogs or cats for DC PAWS Rescue, please contact us at: firstname.lastname@example.org!

BE A SPONSOR:

For any of our animals! Sponsors help us provide critical medical care, food, boarding and other support for animals facing euthanasia. Individuals who sponsor a dog or cat receive special recognition on the animal's profile. Sponsorships can also be made in honor or memory of a loved one, and you may designate to whom DC Paws Rescue should provide notice of your gift.
