Name: Presley Date of Birth: Approx. 3/29/16 Gender: Female Breed: German Shepherd Weight: 38 Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: TBD Kid friendly: Yes House trained: TBD Crate trained: Yes Energy level: Moderate - PUPPY! History: Pulled from an animal control Adoption Fee: $450 From the Foster: We have only had Presley a couple of days but she has been a fantastic addition to our home. She is an absolutely stunning German Shepherd Dog (GSD) and a very happy pup that is excited just to be loved and will provide reinforcement to you in the form of kisses so you keep on loving her. She is alert, smart, and very playful and sometimes hops about like a bunny or trots where she needs to go. She plays well with our resident dog and has been able to leap over her (they are similar in height). Presley has been able to entertain herself with a ball, or loves chewing on hard chew toys like Nylabones or antlers. She would probably love to play with plush squeaky toys if we let them in the house. She has been sleeping in the crate for the time being and has willingly gone in during the day for a nap when we’ve been home. She is a curious girl, but hasn’t really gotten into anything she shouldn’t. She has responded really well to a verbal correction if she’s getting too curious. She is working hard on refresher house training, manners, and not feeling the need to protect the humans or the water bowl from the pesky resident dog. Presley has a lot of puppy energy and will need a home where her humans will regularly exercise her and provide mental stimulation, training and maybe even a “job” of sorts (agility or the like). In general, GSDs need exercise and something to do or they get bored, which has the potential of meaning naughty and barky (though so far we have not seen this at all). This is a breed that is not meant to be lazy lap companions. We haven’t had a chance to give her an open space, but given how she easily follows our herding dog at home, I think she would love to run. She would make an excellent addition to your home!
All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.

If you live in MN, WI, IA, SD, ND, or IL and would like to meet/adopt this animal or anyone else, then please fill out an adoption application at http://secondhandhounds.org/adoption-information/ and the foster(s) will be in touch! Keep in mind that there may be multiple applicants applying for the same animal(s). You only need to complete 1 application for multiple animals that you're interested in.
Note - We change an animal's listing to say "PENDING ADOPTION" when they already had a meet and greet with a family who plans to adopt that animal. We put "NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS" on a listing when an animal has multiple applications in and the foster has asked to stop accepting any more while they review the applications they've already received.
