Meet Prince - a sweet 3 year old, 7 pound, Poodle Mix that would play fetch nonstop if you let him. This little guy loves being near his people and will follow his foster mom everywhere however affection is definitely on his terms. And although Prince does enjoy sitting on the couch while his foster family watches television or reads a book, Prince prefers sitting on the back of the couch just barely within arm's reach. After a few months in foster care, Prince is now periodically rewarding his foster family with snuggles and cuddling.
Prince is currently living with an older dog, two cats and other small pocket pets. He does well with others however Prince would probably prefer to be an only pet so that he can always be the center of attention. Prince loves going for walks, spending time at the dog park and playing with others however new dogs can be a little intimidating to him. A good forever home will need to be patient and help Prince navigate new situations.
Prince is generally quiet especially when he needs to go outside for potty breaks. Prince is house trained and would prefer going outside however he will use a pee-pad when his foster mom fails to notice him sitting quietly by the door. A good forever home for Prince will need to be aware of this and help Prince keep a bathroom break routine. Prince also has a bad habit of marking the resident dog's own dog bed. Being an only dog might help with this.
Although Prince does not prefer dog crates, he is capable of spending a regular work day in one. At the moment, Prince spends his day confined to a large kitchen area with the resident dog. At night, due to the ages of the resident cats, Prince sleeps in a crate. If Prince had his way, he would be sleeping on the bed next to his foster mom.
Prince does have a protective nature and will be very vocal when anyone is at the door and will continue until he is certain his foster family is also aware. When he is in the mood to play, Prince will also vocalize until his has also convinced others that it is play time. Because Prince's bark is rather loud, shared walls are not recommended.
Prince will require regular grooming to help prevent mats and keep his face clean. And although he protests, Prince has gotten use to a routine of having his face washed. A good forever home will need to help Prince maintain his good grooming regimen.
In the short time that Prince has been in foster care, he has made tremendous progress with previous trust and behavioral issues, particularly resource guarding. A good forever home will need to commit to the continued efforts needed to help Prince be the good canine citizen he is capable of being.
Prince's adoption fee is $300, which includes vet exam, age-appropriate vaccinations and tests, microchip, and spay/neuter. Please note that we only accept cash or checks - no credit cards.
