Update: Foster mom reports he is still frightened, hides and won't let you get close to him. Poor Buddy Ray! With that said, Buddy Ray is going to need a special adopter who understands shy, unsocialized dogs. He loves his fur-siblings and runs laps in the yard. He needs a home with another friendly and playful dog with a secured backyard. He will only be at an event by special requests.
I'm Ray, but my foster mom sometimes calls me "Buddy" Ray! I'm a smooth brown/chocolate & tan Dachshund mix with white markings. I am a young tweenie around 2 years old weighing in at 13lbs. I have been neutered, microchipped and UTD on vaccinations. I've had a tough time but things are about to change. I found myself on the streets and ended up in a scary shelter as a stray but DRLA sprang me from doggie jail and now I am trying so hard to fit in at my foster home. I haven't had a potty accident yet, and I bark when I need to go outside. I'm not sure how to use the doggie door yet since it's new to me. I need a furever home that is going to be patient. I've never been able to trust and lean on anyone so I'm very cautious , guarded and unsure when meeting people. I really want to trust and be loved but it's going to take time and work until I can break out of my shell. I promise the wait will be worth it! My foster mom thinks I have really cute eyebrows that compliment my handsome face. She also thinks I'm half dachshund and half beagle since I have slightly longer legs and a shorter snout so I can totally handle a house with stairs. She noticed that I have excellent doggy social skills and other dogs seem to like me too. I dream about my forever home. When foster mom says I'm ready I will attend an adoption event.
If you want to know more about me please complete an adoption application and schedule your home safety check so you are pre-approved. Make sure to mention you are interested in me so my foster mom can contact you.
