Please meet Red, a gorgeous and very loving male Red Heeler. Red is an older gentleman. Hard to say his exact age, but vet seems to think around 12 years of age.
Red was found with a collar (no tags) that was so tight that is was almost embedded into his neck. His neck had infected collar burns that took time, medication and a little TLC to heal. Red was obviously once someone's dog because of the collar and he had been neutered prior to being rescued. Although we assume he once had a home, it was apparent he had not been well cared for in quite some time. His coat was terrible and he tested positive for heartworms. He is now on the mend and ready for a home of his own.
Red is sight impaired and losing his vision at a rapid rate. He is considered "special needs" and will need a special home with someone who has the time, space, and means to care for a dog that may potentially be completely blind soon. He can't be left in areas that he could potentially harm himself, but LOVES to go on long leash walks in open areas. He loves to take in the morning air. It's a joy to take him out on a cool windy day and just watch him enjoying being alive. As Red's foster mom, I have learned a lot from this boy...he is very special. Red is a happy boy who has so much love and joy to offer to the right person/family/home. Red is looking for a home where he can be treated like royalty for his remaining days. Could that home be yours?
