Obedience training: None

As odd as it sounds, this precious little fella was found as a stray and ended up in an area Animal Control facility … and as you can imagine, he was terrified during his stay there. He is just the sweetest boy ever, but he has NO self-confidence or trust in people. While he wants to be friends, he is so scared and he will inch his way toward you, piddling all the way. If you bend over him to pet him or pick him up, he piddles. If voices are raised for any reason (not even having anything to do with him) he cowers and hides. Our guess is that he spent most of his life inside a crate because when he first came to us, his rear legs were very weak and he had no muscle tone. Even after a while in foster care, he will look for an out-of-the-way spot to chill and will go into any open crate he can find. Another guess is that he was crated so much because of his submissive piddling. And, of course, these are just guesses … we know nothing of his past for sure.
All that said … this little fella is just a gem. He is a very SPECIAL NEEDS boy and not recommended as a first dog. Will do best in a quiet, low-activity home/family with another small, calm, balanced and happy dog that he can look to for leadership. With a lot of patience, he has the potential to blossom. He LOVES to sit in your lap. He basically velcros himself to you and will sit perfectly still for as long as you will!
If you think Rinny might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org, click on Forms/Application and complete your adoption application online.
We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.
When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Rinny picks you too. Please note that we do not transport pets outside the Central VA area.
If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed.
Please feel free to email email@example.com if you have additional questions.
