Rosebud is a special needs Purebred American Pitbull. She was rescue from the Euthanasia list at California City Shelter in September 2015. The breeders deliberately bred a father and daughter to "strengthen the line" and wound up with Rosebud who has Cerebellum Hypoplasia, a smaller than normal cerebellum. They dumped her to be killed when she was not "thriving"
The neurological issue causes balance troubles and walking is not normal nor ever will be. Rosebud has done well as she has grown to correct for that. She could not walk at all when we rescue her. the older she gets, the more she walks and the stronger we make her, the better she does. she can now stand at her raised food bowl and eat.
We are seeking a home for Rosebud where she will get more One on One attention than a rescue can offer her. Rosebud is a slap happy girl who loves attention , kisses, playing tug of war with her toys and going for walks, which she needs more of. She is a sweet heart and lovebug who deserves a family who will dote on her, have patience with her balance issues and continue to feed her the high quality foods we have her on for maximum health. She loves people, and gets so excited when adopters come over. she tries to be a lap dog and her whole boddy wiggles with excitement.
Rosebud does well with some dogs and not well with others. It more depends on the other dog. some dogs do not know what to do with her body movements due to the neurological challenges and other pups have slept with her and been very patient. She would be fine as an only dog.
Rosebud is a very special dog. she needs owners who work from home or are retired and know the Staffordshire/Pitbull breed. Rosebud will be tall and may weigh 60 or so pounds when full grown. at the rescue we have a custom ramp a volunteer/adopter built with rosie in mind, she has learned to use that ramp to go in and out for potty. it is amazing to see. rosie is a special needs dog with ahuge personality and filled with unconditional love. you need to meet her to really appreciate her. we have spent over 3000,00 to be sure we understand what she has going on neurologically and can share that with an adopter. if you want a special dog who will love you to pieces and bring joy and have the time to care for her, please contact us
