Ruby was found by her foster on Jan 17, while enroute to DFW airport on Jan. 17th. With the help of a very nice police officer... two hours later... two cans of dog food and two cans of spam, we finally coaxed her into my car.
Ruby was in heat when found, but since then has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Sadly, she was heartworm positive, but will begin treatment mid-February. She walks well on a leash, sleeps in her crate at night without making a peep, and is perfectly housetrained. She is very well behaved, is a perfect little lady in the house. She loves to go in the car. Ruby loves her bed and toys, and has never chewed or destroyed anything.
She’s not yet been formally introduced to other dogs, but living in a mid-rise building she sees dogs and people every time we go outside – and she wags her tail and seems quite friendly. She is VERY friendly to people and I think she will be fine with dogs if properly introduced. Not yet sure how she reacts to cats yet, but there’s good reason to think she’ll be just fine with them as well.
If you feel your home might be the right place for such a great dog - the place to start is with the adoption application found at www.dfwrescueme.org/adopt. Once submitted, the foster will contact you promptly to tell you more and to arrange a time to meet!
The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $250.00, which includes their vaccinations and spay/neuter.
Ruby is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster, not by DFWRM.
