From Rudy's foster Mom:
UPDATE ON RUDY'S SIGHT PROBLEMS: Rudy gets around very well, both inside and out. If I should change direction on him, for example while walking through the house when he is going the same direction heading for a treat or to go out, it takes him a second to catch on, and we may lightly bump, but he really is not handicapped very much at all. I have been cleaning the porch over several days, and leaving furniture, etc., in different places than normal. Doesn't faze him at all.
We still feel Rudy would need a fenced yard or should be on a leash at all times when he is outside
Rudy, I have been told, is a Deerhound. He apparently had been running loose for some time before making his way to my house. He is about three years old, and is a "Special Needs" dog, because he has a congenital eye disease called Mydriasis that has robbed him of some of his sight. The vet doesn't think he will lose any more. In spite of his problems, he gets around fairly well and off-leash he chooses to run, not walk. The other day, he was chasing flying bugs in the back yard. His adoption donation is $200.00.
