Hi, my name is Schatzi!!! I got my name because SGSR helped me in February, and because of my heart condition. In case you didn't know...Schatzi means Sweetheart in German. I am the cutest girl you will ever meet. I am about 5 months old and I LOVE to play! You see, not so long ago I wasn't doing very well. I was at NC State Vet school emergency when SGSR got the call that I needed immediate help. I needed open heart surgery or I wasn't going to make it. I had a condi ... tion called Patent Ductus Arteriosus....or PDA. I was born with this condition and the doctors had to fix me. I was very brave and my foster sister came to see me every single day. I was only 10 weeks old, and I didn't like staying at that hospital. Well as you can see, I am a happy little girl, and I am growing like a sunflower...I am too cute to grow like a weed! I love to play outside with my big foster brother Boomer. He is truly my best friend. See, he is a therapy dog, so he teaches me lots of things about playing ball, chasing each other, chewing on bones, and he even tells me when I am being a pest. (I don't like that one) He is showing me the way to be a really good girl. Did I mention how much I love a ball? The squeaky ones are the best. Now for the important stuff...I am going to need a new home. I need my family. I have lots of energy, so I need a family that likes to be active. My foster family agrees, that I will definately need a companion dog to play with, and to show me the ropes. I am a little shy when I first meet new people, but it doesn't take long for me to warm up. I play a little rough with cats, so I will probably do better in a home with no kitties. I will also need to follow up with my doctors in Raleigh, NC in May, so they can make sure my heart is better, and that I am on track with my recovery. If you think you are my new family, please contact your adoption coordinator, or fill out an application at www.southeastgermanshepherdrescue.com. You MUST live in NC, or VA to adopt me.
UPDATE!! I have been back to my doctors and they tell me that I am heathy with a STRONG heart. I am so happy they fixed me. I am a typical, fun loving, female German Shepherd. I love my foster mom and dad, but my favorite thing in the world is Boomer (my foster brother) and my ball. I love having an older brother to play with. I tend to be a little shy at first but I warm up quickly. I try so hard to be the boss, but Boomer let's me know that I am just the annoying little sister. I am so smart, and I am ready to find my family. I am now 7 months old, and ready to start my new life. Are you my new family?
