We welcome specific questions. Due to high volume of applications, we may not be able to respond immediately. Your patience is appreciated.
If an animal is on our website, it is still available but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, it is in your best interest to submit an application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process.
We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.
As an all-volunteer, foster home based organization, ARF does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we must give priority to pre-approved applicants.
ARF is pleased to introduce Sam! Sam is a delightful Chihuahua/Pug mix, or a Chug, and he is such a handsome boy! Sam has the silkiest chestnut coat, with a distinguished black stripe down his back. Sam is about 9 weeks old, and currently weighs just over 3 lbs. We think Sam might get up to about 8 lbs. Sam is a rambunctious playful little fellow that is equal parts silly puppy and championship snuggler. He LOVES playing outside, and will carry sticks and chase a ball. Sam also loves playing with his foster brother, a pug. He has a cute habit of sticking his paw in his bowl while eating and "talking" to his food while he savors each bite (not that it lasts long!).
Sam does okay with his potty pad inside, but is happy to go outside too. He's a sturdy little guy, and has already responded well to beginning potty training. He loves following you right at your heels and can easily get underfoot, so you have to watch where he is because he's so tiny! He sleeps in his crate at night with his brother (Matt), and is a happy, quiet sleeper. His foster mom keeps a potty pad in his crate, and he's happy using the pad at night and doesn't bark to go out. Sam has a high metabolism and will need to be fed 3 meals a day. Sam is looking for a family where he won't be alone for long periods, and where he can get equal parts playtime and snuggles too. Families with children under 8 won't be considered due to Sam's size.
This pup is micro-chipped and up to date on all vaccinations. The new family will be required to have the pup altered by 6 months of age and complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. The pup's adoption fee is $275. Please note ARF does not approve applications for any animal that has not been altered to families that live outside of Illinois and/or beyond 100 miles of Wheaton or Glen Ellyn, IL. A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting this pup fill out an online application today! http://arf-il.org/application.html Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting. ARF is an all volunteer organization. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved. Thank you for your patience!
If you’re invited to meet an animal, plan to arrive on time or early,
as we cannot hold animals.
All household members must be present at time of adoption, including dogs.
We appreciate your cooperation.
